Annual Appropriations Application

The Office of Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) is now accepting requests from eligible entities in New York’s 17th Congressional District for Fiscal Year 2027 (FY27) Community Project Funding (CPF) and Programmatic and Language Appropriations Requests.

Community Project Funding allows Members of Congress to request direct federal investments in critical local projects that strengthen infrastructure, enhance public safety, support economic development, and improve quality of life across the Hudson Valley.

To be considered, community funding projects must meet eligibility requirements established by the House Committee on Appropriations. Among other criteria:

  • Projects must have a clear federal nexus and fall within an authorized federal program.

  • Projects must demonstrate strong community support.

  • Funding may not be directed to for-profit entities.

  • Projects may not be commemorative in nature.

  • Projects selected for funding may be subject to audit by the Government Accountability Office.

For Programmatic requests, Members of Congress may request specific funding levels for agencies and programs funded in the twelve appropriations bills. For Language requests, Members may request bill language or report language directing or encouraging specific actions by federal agencies.

Please note: The office is only able to submit a limited number of FY27 Community Project Funding requests this year. Since requests for funding are incredibly competitive, please submit the request as soon as possible, but no later than COB on Friday, March 6th. The earlier the submission the better; and applications will be considered on a rolling basis until March 6th.

Congressman Lawler is committed to ensuring that all requests are reviewed thoroughly, transparently, and in accordance with House rules and federal law.

Eligible local governments, public entities, and nonprofit organizations serving NY-17 are encouraged to contact Congressman Lawler’s Washington, D.C. office for additional information about the application process and submission deadlines at (202) 225-6506.

Further details and application guidance will be provided directly to interested applicants.
