Lawler Condemns Parole Board After Second Arrest Of Convicted Murderer Robert Mccain

Pearl River, N.Y. , November 25, 2025

Pearl River, N.Y. – 11/25/25… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) issued a statement following new reports that convicted murderer Robert McCain has been arrested for the second time in four months after being released on parole, condemning the Parole Board for its reckless decision to free a violent offender.

According to police records, Robert McCain, the killer convicted of the brutal 1980 murder of Paula Bohovesky from Pearl River, was arrested last week in Peekskill and charged with second-degree aggravated harassment and petit larceny, after allegedly threatening a woman and stealing a license plate from her vehicle. This incident follows his earlier 2025 arrest for forcible touching of a woman at a Cortlandt dog park.

“Robert McCain, the convicted murderer of 16-year-old Paula Bohevesky of Pearl River, has now been arrested for the second time in four months following his release on parole. As an Assemblyman, I strongly opposed his release and urged the Parole Board to keep this dangerous criminal behind bars,” stated Congressman Lawler.

“McCain’s latest arrest makes one thing clear: he should never have been released. The Parole Board’s reckless decision has put New Yorkers at risk, and those responsible should resign in disgrace immediately,” concluded Lawler.

Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. He was rated the most effective freshman lawmaker in the 118th Congress, 8th overall, surpassing dozens of committee chairs.
