Congressman Mike Lawler Praises President Trump’s Move Towards Halting Congestion Pricing

Pearl River, NY - 1/30/2025… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler released the following statement after news broke that President Donald Trump is seriously considering halting the congestion pricing cash grab.

“I’m glad to see that President Trump is seriously considering ending Kathy Hochul’s Congestion Pricing Cash Grab,” said Congressman Mike Lawler. “When I met with him both at Mar a Lago and at the White House in recent weeks, he reiterated his support for reversing this absurd, regressive tax on cops, firefighters, teachers, EMTs, nurses, and other New Yorkers just trying to get to work.”

“The MTA needs to get its fiscal house in order, including collecting on the billions in missing tolls and fares it fails to collect,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “Until the MTA shows it’s capable of handling its finances in an accountable manner, they shouldn’t get to take one more cent out of the pockets of hardworking New Yorkers going to work.”

Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of the 118th Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
