LAWLER INTRODUCES LEGISLATION TO ENSURE SCHOOLS CAN CONTINUE TO RECEIVE EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE

Rep. Lawler released the following statement after introducing legislation that would extend the availability of funds for Emergency Assistance to Non-Public School (EANS) I and II. These funds are designed to help non-public schools deal with additional costs incurred due to the pandemic, and must be spent by September 30, 2023 (for EANS I) or September 30, 2024 (for EANS II).

“I'm proud to introduce this important piece of legislation that will extend authorization of funding for emergency aid to non-public schools.” said Rep. Mike Lawler. "The New York State Education Department has indicated that an extension would be of great assistance, and so this legislation will prove an important step in ensuring that all students and schools receive the resources they need to succeed."

"I look forward to finding additional ways in which we can support students, teachers, parents, and families in Congress," Rep. Lawler concluded.

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
