Congressman Mike Lawler and NY House Republicans Ask for President Donald Trump's Support in Stopping Governor Hochul's Congestion Pricing Cash Grab

Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after sending a letter, with his Republican House colleagues Nicole Malliotakis (NY-11), Andrew Garbarino (NY-02), Anthony D'Esposito (NY-04), and Nick LaLota (NY-01), to President Trump asking for his support in stopping Governor Kathy Hochul's congestion pricing cash grab.

This comes on the heels of Governor Hochul indicating she wants to "unpause" congestion pricing and charge hard-working, middle-class New Yorkers $9 a day just to get to work. That cost would be devastating for cops, firefighters, teachers, nurses, electricians, and many other union workers who help New York City

"I've long said that Governor Kathy Hochul is the worst Governor in America, and her crusade to force her congestion pricing cash grab on hard-working New Yorkers is just the latest example of her ineptitude," said Congressman Mike Lawler. "Instead of holding the MTA accountable for its gross mismanagement of its finances, Governor Hochul wants to stick New York's firefighters, cops, nurses, and union members with the bill."

"New York State needs a Governor committed to lowering costs on working families, fixing the MTA's broken and corrupt budget, and making things a little easier for all New Yorkers," continued Lawler. "Sadly, Governor Hochul doesn't appear to be up to the task."

"I'm hopeful that President Donald Trump will work with both Republicans and Democrats to stop Hochul's congestion pricing cash grab, and help fund the MTA while holding it responsible for its waste," concluded Lawler. "And I hope that New Yorkers will turn the page on the failed Hochul Administration in 2026 and usher New York into a new and better future."

Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of the 118th Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
