Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after President Yoon's historic speech in the House chambers.

"I was thrilled to welcome President Yoon and his delegation to Washington D.C. and the Capitol, and thank him and all of South Korea for our friendship and alliance," said Congressman Lawler. "South Korea is one of the United States' strongest allies and an essential partner in the Indo-Pacific region."

"During my bipartisan visit to South Korea earlier this year, we spoke with many South Korean officials about the importance of our alliance and partnership," concluded Congressman Lawler. "President Yoon reaffirmed our shared ideals of liberty, democracy, and freedom during his speech yesterday, and I am committed to ensuring that South Korea remains the free, vibrant country it is today."

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester County.
