CONGRESSMAN LAWLER HIGHLIGHTS CONCERNS ABOUT CLOSE TIES BETWEEN CHINESE STOCK TRADING PLATFORMS AND CCP IN LETTER TO YELLEN

Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after penning a letter to Treasury Secretary highlighting concerns about the ties between Chinese stock trading platforms and the Chinese Communist Party. The letter can be viewed below.

"Following last month's hearing on TikTok, it's clear that the Chinese Communist Party has the ability to access user data from Chinese-based apps," said Congressman Mike Lawler. "It is deeply concerning and these ties could be reflective of a more insidious effort by the CCP to further build out profiles of every single American."

"The Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States has the responsibility to look into these matters and they must immediately launch a thorough personal data and national security review," concluded Congressman Mike Lawler. "Anything less would be an abdication of duty from Secretary Yellen and the Treasury Department."
