CONGRESSMAN LAWLER INTRODUCES BILL TO STOP BIDEN'S EFFORT TO SADDLE HUDSON VALLEY HOMEOWNERS WITH ADDITIONAL MORTGAGE COSTS

Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) announced the introduction of legislation today that would stop the Biden administration's effort to saddle homeowners with good credit with hidden fees that could amount to thousands of additional dollars a year on mortgages. The bill language can be found below.

"The Biden administration's effort to saddle Hudson Valley homeowners with thousands in additional mortgage fees a year is absurd and unprecedented, said Congressman Mike Lawler. "For the median homeowner in the Hudson Valley, this plan could result in thousands of additional dollars worth of mortgage fees per year, compounding the affordability crisis in the Hudson Valley."

"Forcing homeowners with good credit to pay for risky mortgages taken on by those with bad credit is insane and anti-American,concluded Congressman Mike Lawler. "I call on all my colleagues, both Republicans and Democrats, to prevent this absurd rule from being placed into effect."

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester County.
