Our first 100 days!
Pearl River, NY,
April 12, 2023
We are now 100 days into the 118th Congress and I'm proud of the work we have already accomplished in such a short period of time. My district team has already resolved 500 cases brought to us by constituents. This includes resolving passport issues, helping taxpayers receive long-overdue refunds, getting visa applications processed, and so many other issues that often involve long back-and-forth exchanges with federal agencies. We have hundreds of additional cases our team is actively working on and receive new ones each day. Some of these issues are of greater scope than others, but in each case we endeavor to achieve the same level of success. If there is any issue our caseworkers can help you with, please don't hesitate to contact my office at 845-201-2060.
As of tomorrow, we will have held mobile office hours in all four counties in the 17th District. I'm proud to represent an incredibly diverse community and both my staff and I believe it is incumbent on us to get out in the community as much as we can and meet constituents where they are. We will continue holding mobile office hours in at least one new locality each month and look forward to continuing to meet constituents and help them with their casework needs. As we have gotten out in the community, we have also been proud to honor community leaders and organizations that go above and beyond in their efforts to make the Hudson Valley a great place to live for everyone. We've been proud to award over 500 certificates and proclamations commemorating these efforts and will continue to celebrate the unsung heroes in our community for their efforts. We have hit the ground running in Washington as well. I'm proud to be a member of 50 congressional caucuses, working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to draw attention to important policy needs and causes. As Co-Chair of the Congestion Tax Caucus, I'm working with fellow Co-Chairs Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) and Congresswoman Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY) to ease the squeeze on commuters into New York City from the Hudson Valley who are facing thousands of dollars in new tolls just to get to work. As Co-Chair of the Appalachian Trail Caucus, I'm thrilled to be helping draw attention to the nearly 50 miles of Appalachian Trail right here in the 17th District. As Co-Chair of the Moldova Caucus, I'm working with my colleagues to support this key democratic partner and stand up to Putin's aggression across Eastern Europe. I'm also proud to be a member of the bipartisan SALT Caucus, where I'm working with Congressman Gottheimer, Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ), Congressman Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY) and others to get Hudson Valley families the relief we need on our state and local taxes (SALT). I’m honored to serve as your Representative in Congress and look forward to the next 100 days of serving you and your family in Washington and here in the 17th District. If there is anything we can do for you, please don’t hesitate to contact my office at 845-201-2060 or reach out through my website at lawler.house.gov.
