Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement following the release of the indictment of former President Donald Trump and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s press conference.

“Since taking office, Alvin Bragg has refused to prosecute violent criminals, failed to protect victims, and made New York less safe," said Rep. Lawler. "By making the decision to charge former President Donald Trump and pursue a legal case that wasn’t prosecuted by the Biden administration’s Department of Justice, the Biden Federal Election Commission, or former Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance, Alvin Bragg has further eroded confidence in our justice system."

"This is a grossly hyper partisan move and our country is worse off for it," concluded Rep. Lawler.

New York’s 17th District, which includes all or parts of Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, is a suburban district located just north of New York City.
