CONGRESSMAN LAWLER CONDEMNS THREATS MADE AGAINST SCHOOLS IN NY-17

Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement following a wave of "swatting" against school districts in the 17th Congressional District.

"I am appalled to learn of a number of 'swatting' incidents that occurred in New York's 17th Congressional District," said Congressman Lawler. "This behavior is unacceptable and should be prosecuted to the further extent of the law."

"My team and I are in the process of examining legislation for co-sponsorship or introduction that would increase criminal penalties for those who inspire terror amongst parents with 'swatting' threats against schools," concluded Congressman Lawler.

New York’s 17th District, which includes all or parts of Rockland, Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties, is a suburban district located just north of New York City.
