Congressman Mike Lawler Announces Closing of Over 3,000 Constituent Cases

Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after his office closed its 3,000th constituent case in this term, a clip of almost 50 cases a week. These cases have ranged from bringing constituents home safely from Israel after the October 7th attacks, to expediting passports for hundreds of families in NY-17, including the opening of a new passport facility in the district, to helping those who came to the US for a brighter future, including spouses and family members of US citizens, acquire green cards, to advocating with the IRS to send long-awaited tax refunds, to securing long-awaited VA, Social Security, or Medicare benefits. In total, over $13.85 million has been returned to NY-17 through casework.

“I’m thrilled that our team has closed over 3,000 cases in just 63 weeks, returning over 13.85 million dollars to constituents,” said Congressman Lawler. “Our district staff are some of the best in the business, and I’m thankful for all of their hard work on behalf of the residents of New York’s 17th Congressional District.”

“From helping get folks home from Israel in the wake of the horrific October 7th terror attacks to getting passports for families going on those long-awaited vacations, my team has been hard at work improving the lives of residents of NY-17,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “I can’t wait to see what the next 9 months of top-notch constituent services bring.”

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
