CONGRESSMAN LAWLER RELEASES STATEMENT FOLLOWING PASSAGE OF THE TAX RELIEF FOR AMERICAN FAMILIES AND WORKERS ACT

Today, Congressman Mike Lawler released the following statement following the House’s passage of the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act with broad bipartisan support.

“Over the course of the past year, my fellow New York Republicans and I have been engaging in thoughtful conversations with Republican Leadership on SALT, an expanded child tax credit, and other key New York priorities,” said Congressman Lawler. “With today’s tax bill passing, we were able to address a number of those, including historic small business tax cuts and an expanded child tax credit which will uplift tens of thousands of families in New York’s 17th District.”

“Our work, however, is not done,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “While I’m encouraged by Speaker Johnson’s commitment to advancing legislation that would eliminate the unfair marriage penalty for SALT, we must finish the job and get the SALT Marriage Penalty Elimination Act passed in the House and Senate and sent to the President’s desk.”

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
