CONGRESSMAN LAWLER RELEASES STATEMENT FOLLOWING PASSAGE OF BIPARTISAN BILL TO PREVENT SHUTDOWN
Washington, DC,
January 18, 2024
Today, Congressman Lawler released the following statement after helping pass a bipartisan continuing resolution to avert a potential government shutdown. “I was glad to see strong bipartisan support of the continuing resolution to prevent a government shutdown,” said Congressman Mike Lawler. “With Congress now finally committed to regular order and a full-fledged Appropriations process, this extension of funding provides valuable time to finalize our appropriations bills in line with Fiscal Responsibility Act toplines.” “The Fiscal Responsibility Act is projected to save American taxpayers $2.1 trillion over the next ten years,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “This is a good start to tackling our national debt and deficit, but more work must be done to get our country back on the right long-term fiscal track.” New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. |
