CONGRESSMAN LAWLER SLAMS RELOCATION OF MIGRANTS TO JAMES MADISON HIGH SCHOOL
Pearl River, NY,
January 10, 2024
Today, Congressman Lawler released the following statement responding to New York City’s move to displace local students to remote learning to make way for thousands of migrants to occupy a New York City public high school. “The abject failures of the Biden and Adams administrations were on full display at James Madison High School yesterday,” said Congressman Lawler. “Thousands of migrants, willingly let into our country by President Biden, took over a high school, whose students were forced into remote learning by Mayor Adams.” “It is patently absurd that New York City is prioritizing sheltering foreign migrants over educating local children, and it’s exactly why we passed the Schools Not Shelters Act earlier this year,” continued Congressman Lawler. “The Biden and Adams administrations are letting New Yorkers down by willfully kicking students out of schools.” “Until Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, a graduate of James Madison High School, gets serious about addressing the migrant crisis at the source - our porous Southern Border - we can expect this to continue unabated,” concluded Congressman Lawler. “Senator Schumer - enough dragging your feet. Let’s pass actual border security measures and secure our Southern Border once and for all. Anything less is a disservice to New Yorkers.” New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties. |
