Today, Congressman Lawler released the following statement following the Colorado Supreme Court’s decision to remove former President Donald Trump from the ballot last night.

“Similar to the Court of Appeals in New York trying to throw out fair, impartial and competitive congressional district maps, the Colorado Supreme Court is attempting to put their thumb on the scale of our elections, and subvert the will of the voters. In America, people should decide elections, not the courts,” said Congressman Lawler. “Ignoring former President Trump’s constitutional right to due process and unilaterally removing him from the ballot is an egregious overstep of their judicial authority and will only fan the flames of division and anger in the country, which is the last thing we need.”

New York's 17th Congressional District is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
