President Biden's Pardon of Hunter
President Biden's decision to pardon his son, Hunter, after repeatedly saying for months that he wouldn't was disappointing but not surprising. What was most jarring about it, however, was that he didn't just pardon Hunter for the crimes of which he was convicted, but issued a blanket pardon covering an eleven-year period. That period includes the time during which the House Oversight Committee was investigating the Biden family for corrupt businesses practices involving the funneling of millions of dollars from foreign nationals. For President Biden to decry a "weaponized" Justice Department after ridiculing Republicans who made similar claims regarding the treatment of the President-elect, while issuing one of the broadest and most sweeping presidential pardons in American history, is truly the height of hypocrisy.
