No Parole for Child Rapists and Murderers

Those who commit unspeakable acts against children must face justice. That includes the vile killers of seven-year-old Joan D'Alessandro who was sexually assaulted and murdered by her neighbor while selling Girl Scout cookies and sixteen-year-old Paula Bohovesky who suffered the same fate right here in Rockland County. Over two decades after Joan's horrific murder, Congress passed legislation to repeal parole eligibility for criminals who sexually assaulted and killed a child under age 14. But, unfortunately, because Paula was sixteen at the time of her death, her killer was eligible for parole and was released just a few years ago. This terrible affront to justice is why I introduced the Paula Bohovesky and Joan D’Alessandro Act, which will raise the age for prohibition on parole to cover all minors 18 and under. This legislation will put in place penalties at the federal level to ensure no family has to endure the pain of seeing their child's tormentor released from prison. Vile criminals who sexually assault and murder minors should NEVER be eligible for parole. Do you agree? Respond to my survey to let me know.
