Congressman Lawler Reintroduces Legislation Expanding IVF Access For New York Families

Washington, D.C. – 3/5/2025… Today, Congressman Mike Lawler reintroduced the IVF Access and Affordability Act to expand options for families to ease the financial burden of IVF services.

This legislation establishes a tax credit of up to $20,000 for individuals and $40,000 for couples filing jointly to help offset the high costs of assisted reproductive technology.

“Too many families in New York and across the country struggle with the financial burden of fertility treatments,” said Congressman Lawler (NY-17). “IVF and other fertility services should never feel out of reach for those who dream of having children.”

“For those struggling with infertility, access to IVF can make all the difference. This legislation is about ensuring that every family who wants to have children has the opportunity to do so, without being priced out of care,” concluded Congressman Lawler.

“Too many families, including many Jewish families, face infertility in their journey toward parenthood. Hadassah supports a wide array of options that make infertility treatments more accessible, including the tax credits outlined in the IVF Access and Affordability Act and insurance coverage,” said Hadassah National President Carol Ann Schwartz. "We commend Representative Lawler for introducing legislation that alleviates the burden of costly and difficult infertility treatments for American families.”

Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
