Congressman Lawler Slams Hochul for Legalized Theft of New Yorkers Through Congestion Pricing Scheme

Today, Congressman Mike Lawler (NY-17) released the following statement after news broke of Governor Hochul's intention to unpause congestion pricing.

"Governor Hochul’s congestion pricing scheme is nothing more than a massive new tax on working families, daily commuters, college students, and local residents who just want to travel within the city they call home. Frankly, this plan amounts to legalized theft by a governor and state government that is out-of-control and out-of-touch with everyday New Yorkers," said Congressman Lawler, who said any elected official or member of the press referring to this plan as a “reduction” should be ashamed.

“Governor Hochul is trying to pick the pockets of New Yorkers to bail out the corrupt MTA’s waste, fraud, and abuse, and that’s shameful," concluded Congressman Lawler.

Congressman Lawler is one of the most bipartisan members of the 118th Congress and represents New York's 17th Congressional District, which is just north of New York City and contains all or parts of Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, and Westchester Counties.
